Henry (Hank) A. Lopata, 90, formerly of Paris Hill in Clinton died on Thursday, October 24, 2013.
He was born on February 20, 1923 in Utica, the son of Joseph and Nellie (Wojnas) Lopata. He was raised and educated in Utica, graduating from Utica Free Academy. He proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps during World War II. On April 17, 1944, he married Stella M. Savicki in St. Mary's Church, Clinton. She died in 2007. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton, of Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232, Franklin Springs, of Schillings-Burns-Young VFW Post #9591, Clinton, and of the Kirkland Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara-Jo Deep, Ph.D.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Henry J. and Phyllis Lopata, Joseph T. and Cindy Lopata, Michael and Julie Lopata, James and Debra Lopata, Whitesboro, and a son-in-law, Norman Deep, Sr., Clinton; one sister and brother-in-law, Felicia and Al Delucia, New Hartford. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Hilary Lopata, Heath Lopata, Norman Deep, Jr.(and Erica von Schiller-Deep), Dr. Amy Beth Garazo (and Dr. Henry Garazo), Melissa Deep, Joseph T., Jr. (and Valerie) Lopata, Jeremy (and Meredith) Lopata, Meredith (and Joseph) O'Brien, Courtney (and John) Dreimiller, Erin Lopata, Justin Lopata (and Caitlin Ricci); seventeen great-grandchildren, Andrej Nawoj, Jenna and Georgia Deep, Henry, Alexander, and Victor Garazo, Emilio and Porter Lopata, Mia and Chelsea Lopata, Sydni and Graci Dreimiller, Ava Lopata, Allie and Colin O'Brien, Kaylee Lopata, and Esteban Tonini. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Besides his wife, he is predeceased by two sisters, Irene Lopata and Stella Savicki.
