Thomas L. Pavlot, 65, of Kirkland Avenue in Clinton, the retired president of the Owens-Pavlot Funeral Service Inc., died in his sleep on Oct. 5, 2012, after a day of fishing.
He was born on March 28, 1947, to Thomas P. and Louise Overrocker Pavlot, graduated from West Winfield Central School, and the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service.
He was married to Diane Protzman until her death in 1984. On Aug. 23, 1985, he married Jill Lauber. When he retired in 2008 as president of the Clinton-based funeral service, he had completed 40 years in the business.
He was a past officer of Clinton Fire Department, where he was an active member since 1977, and was Vice-President of Clinton Cemetery Association, a member of Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, and a member of Stone Presbyterian Church and its choir.
He was an avid fisherman, especially at Lake Bonaparte, and with spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife; five children, Tom Jr. and Stephanie, Deerfield, Deli and Bob Rogers, Clinton, Krystal L. Pavlot, Utica, Joseph T.,Virginia, and Paige Ellen Pavlot, Clinton; four grandchildren, Taylor Royce-Pavlot and Morgan Royce-Pavlot, both of Corning, Olivia Elaine Rogers, Clinton, and Connor-Jon Pavlot, Deerfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Doris, Waterville, and Edward and Joan, Bridgewater; mother-in-law, Rosalie Lauber; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joleen and Urs Walthert, Jeff Lauber, Jay and Renee Lauber, and W. Jay Lauber; nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. On Oct. 9 in Church with burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
