Marian H Garner, 89, of Clinton, died July 2, 2012 at Faxton-St Luke’s Hospital.

She was born in Conesville, N.Y., on Oct. 8, 1922, to Avery and Estella Richtmyer Hinman. She graduated from Gilboa High School and Oneonta State Teacher’s College, and retired from Clinton Central School District in 1979, where had taught second grade at Clark Mills Elementary School and Marvin Street School, and began her career in Middleburg, N.Y., in 1945. She married Edward Garner and the couple previously lived in Del Ray Beach, Fla., and spent summers in Upstate New York.     

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, two daughters and their spouses, Allan E., Raleigh, N.C., Marlene and Ross Williamson, Ocean City, N.J., and Elaine and George Joseph, Westmoreland; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister Mildred Beaudette, Latham, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Alice Hinman, Gilboa; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, Olin, died before her.

A family service was held on July 3 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service Inc., Clinton.
