Emily M. Hopkins graduated from Grinnell College on May 21 with a bachelor of arts degree in English. She is the daughter of Robert G. Hopkins and Kristen P. Hopkins of Clinton.

Patrick Arancio of Clinton, earned a bachelor’s degree from Wells College. He majored in an individualized program for business and entrepreneurship and was a student-athlete with the soccer, golf and basketball teams.


Patrick King and Marianna Notaro graduated from Bard College on May 26.

Daniel Glick of Clinton, a sophomore in computer information systems, was named to the spring semester Dean’s List at Bryant University.

Richard Caister son of Richard and Mary Caister of Clinton graduated from Albany Law School on May 11. He is the son of Richard and Mary Caister.

David Fay graduated on May 13 from Hobart College. He received a BA in economics, cum laude. He is the son of Peter and Lorraine Fay of Clinton.

The following Clinton high school students were awarded the 2012 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement with a Social Conscience: Zackary Balkcom and Elyssa Hapanowicz.
The award recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in volunteer service and academic achievement.

Rachel Moccaldi, a math education major at SUNY-Cortland, was on the deans list for the spring semester.

Andrej Nawoj has been selected to attend the iTheatrics Broadway Academy July 8-20 in New York City.  He will be an 8th grader at Clinton Central Middle School and is in the Band and Chorus.

At the Library

Annual Book Sale on the Village Green is on July 13 from Noon - 8 p.m. and July 14 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sign-up at the library to help or drop off donations on the back steps of the library. Remember - please leave hard and soft covered books in good condition, DVDs, audiobooks on CD only, music on CD only, and puzzles, Noon - 8 p.m.
Now on display in the Muensch Reading Room – Pez Dispensers from a collection belonging to Mark Fischer.
“Sybil and Jim Paint Around,” watercolors by Sybil Johnson and Jim Ring will be on view June 1-30.
On June 20 at Noon, the Utica Zoomobile will visit again.
Get Ready for Cosmic Summer, the Kirkland Town Library Summer Reading Program for children from birth through age 18. The fun begins in July.

Alcoholics Anonymous  holds a weekly closed topic meeting on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Williams St., and an open discussion meeting on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. in the Bristol Building on the Hamilton College campus, College Hill Rd.

The Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter holds monthly support group meetings on the last Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8 p.m. at Brookdale Senior Living at Clare Bridge, 115 Brookside Road.

Area Happenings

The Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps accepts Used Medical Sharps at their headquarters on East South Street in Clark Mills. Collection will take place on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. All sharps must be in a sealed, puncture-resistant container (an old laundry soap bottle works best).
