Martin Thomas Murphy, 85

Martin Thomas Murphy, 85, born on July 16. 1927 in the Bronx, N.Y., died on Feb. 5, 2013.  
A Clinton resident for over half a century, he worked as a court stenographer and excelled as a jazz pianist.  
Music was his lifelong passion from his early days playing trumpet and touring the country with a Latin ensemble, through his time in the armed services and playing professionally well into his retirement.  
He was predeceased by his son Douglas in 1997. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Murphy; daughters Karen Murphy and Beth Murphy; and grandsons Aaron and Will Scales, as well as a sister, Muriel Palumbo.
Private services will be held for the family.

Roberta “Bobbie” J. Dawes, 76

Roberta “Bobbie” J. Dawes, 76, of Clinton, died on Feb.10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born in Clinton on April 9, 1936, to Lloyd and Marjorie (Roberts) Dawes.  She graduated from Clinton Central School and  Utica College. 
She was a first grade teacher in New York Mills and retired after over 30 years of service.
