Clinton boy's win league title

The Clinton boy's varsity basketball team defeated Ilion 68-45 on Feb. 12 to claim a share of the league title with Shurburne-Earlville. The team started the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back, leading by 19 points at halftime and owning a 30-point-lead at one point during the fourth quarter. Malaquias Canery led Clinton with a team-high 26 points. Mike Hayduk and Anthony Rizzo each scored 11 points. The team will now play a first-round home playoff game on either Friday or Saturday night.

Highlights from the February 13 issue

Clinton Central School students run across College Street to Tony’s Pizzeria and Deli, 41 College Street, during their lunch period on Feb. 12. Concern over students not using the nearby crosswalks has led to the possibility of having crossing guards on duty during the mid-day lunch period. Kirkland Police Chief Daniel English said there have been close calls and near accidents in the past between students and vehicles. Many students run across the street without looking for traffic and without using the crosswalks.
